Sean Rubalcava has Fresno State No. 1

Three-star Norwalk (Calif.) Cerritos C.C. offensive lineman Sean Rubalcava officially visited Fresno State over the weekend.
"Things were great," Rubalcava said Tuesday evening. "I toured the facilities, checked out the stadium and talked with the quarterback Derek Carr, he's coming back. I spent a lot of time with the offensive line coach [Cameron Norcross]. After everything I felt really comfortable and felt this could be the place to play ball. They have a lot of support, everyone goes out to the games and it was just a really good trip overall."

The Fresno State coaching staff made sure Rubalcava had a host he could relate to.
"My host was a guy who is actually from the area where I stay at, Mike Saenz, and he is a junior college transfer as well," Rubalcava said. "He made me feel right at home and really comfortable with the rest of the players. He made the weekend pretty swell."
Running back Dontel James and JC offensive lineman Kolby Drew
made official visits with Rubalcava and both ended up committing to Fresno State over the weekend.
"I flew on the same flight as Dontel [James]," he said. "He was a real good kid and he knows a couple of people I know so it was pretty cool to talk to him."
While Rubalcava didn't commit, he did put Fresno State at the top of his list.
"I am down to three and Fresno is No. 1 right now," he said. "They want me to come in and start for them at a guard position. They are returning a bunch of guys and they are set up to take the Mountain West title again."
Rubalcava is also considering Connecticut and Texas Tech.
"I took the Connecticut trip really early, that was my very first trip and it was a couple of weeks after the season," he said. "I felt really comfortable with the whole staff.
"With UConn they want me to step in and start right away. They pushed the academic side and I would get a great degree. It is a good place to play ball. I got a chance to see them play against Cincinnati so I felt really comfortable with the game atmosphere."
As of now Rubalcava plans on visiting Texas Tech this weekend, unless the Fresno State coaches can convince him otherwise.
"Wednesday one of the Fresno State coaches will be coming by and meeting with my family," he said. "Depending on how that visit goes, then I would be taking my trip to Texas Tech.
"The timeframe for my decision is I think Sunday because I do have to get back to the other schools so they can do what is necessary to fill out the rest of their recruiting board."
Rubalcava talked about the wish list for his future collegiate home.
"Things that are important to me are the opportunity to come in and play, how the school feels about the program as far as support and academics. Am I going to walk away with a pretty good degree and will the connections I am going to make there help prepare me for life after football."
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound left tackle started 22 games for Cerritos and was all-state for two seasons.
"I would say that I play with really good leverage, I am able to get to the second level and deliver the down guy, the defensive lineman, to the second level. In the system that Fresno State runs they want athletic guys, they like to pull guys and get them on the second level because they run that up-tempo spread. They kind of make it easy on the lineman so the running backs can do their thing.
"I am a physical guy. I play with a little bit of a nasty streak and that is kind of what most college coaches are looking for. I like to finish my blocks."
Rubalcava has three years to play two and carries a 3.2 grade point average.
