Catching up with Delvon Hardaway

Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey wide receiver Delvon Hardaway was a late get for the Bulldogs. He reminds Bulldog fans why he chose Fresno State to continue his education and play college football.

"I chose Fresno State because out of all the offers that I had they were the best fit for me," Hardaway said. "It wasn't about depth chart or anything like that. I didn't know that I was going to come in and compete as a true freshman.

"I chose Fresno State because I felt the most comfortable around those players, those coaches and the campus overall. It's also a great school."

Hardaway had a chance to check out the campus this spring.

"I didn't make it up for any spring practices, but I did make the spring game," Hardaway said. "It was really good. Fresno State is a good program and I liked everything that I saw. From the type of offense they play, the defense, the tempo and the intensity seemed really good."

While on campus, Hardaway was able to talk to the Bulldog coaches. They gave him a game plan to help him get ready for D-1 football.

"Since I'm getting up there is June, they told me to get faster, and bigger," Hardaway said. "They want me to come in and compete to play as a true freshman. So, that's what I am getting ready for. I'm just preparing myself the best that I can.

"I'm doing a lot of training and doing a lot of work. I'm lifting weights everyday. Working on the field everyday, doing sprint and explosion drills just to better myself."

At one time Hardaway was a San Jose State commit. Then the coaching staff left for Colorado and the Dorsey Don product opened up his recruitment.

"I was still committed to San Jose State once they left," Hardaway said. "Then after the all-star game that I played in, I was offered by Fresno State and I set up an official visit and I ended up signing with Fresno State on signing day."

It's not all about football with Hardaway. Football is a very important component to Hardaway, but he has far reaching goals.

"I'm going to graduate college, with my degree," Hardaway said. "I plan on either majoring in psychology or broadcasting.

"Of course I want to finish and get my degree, but if the NFL is calling for me within three years then that will be something that I will discuss with my family and what situation is best for me. Other than football, I want to get my degree, get an education and stay strong."

Hardaway also like the community of Fresno and how they support their Bulldogs.

"One of the first things I did was tour the city and get a feel for everything," Hardaway said. "What I got out of that was it's a great community that backs the program.

"Fresno State is really the only sports team in area. Everyone is a Bulldog fan. The whole town basically shuts down on Bulldog game day. Everyone has a lot of pride in the program and a lot of faith in it."
