Fresno State gets Hardaway commit
Fresno State turned a long shot into a commitment this weekend when Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey wide receiver Delvon Hardaway changed his commitment from San Jose State to Fresno State.
"The trip went good, it was really nice," Hardaway said. "I really enjoyed myself and liked Fresno State a lot."
Hardaway stated in an earlier interview to BulldogReport.com that it would have to be a near perfect visit. He comments on what were the difference makers.
"I really liked the community of Fresno," Hardaway said. "It is a football community and I feel that I really fit into the offense really well."
The Fresno State coaches also had a big part in Hardaway's decision, especially head coach, Tim DeRuyter.
"The most enjoyable part of my trip was sitting down talking with the coaches," Hardaway said. "I had really nice conversation Coach DeRuyter seeing where he's at and what he wants me to do as far as coming in to compete for a starting position as a true freshman.
"I really liked the city, it is a football community. It shuts down, the streets close down for football games. I really like the support of the city."
Hardaway has already taken of a very hard bit of business, having to call San Jose State to inform them of his decision.
"I told them that I wouldn't be coming to their university," Hardaway said. "They said they understand and now I guess they have to go looking for another receiver to fill that spot."
Hardaway is already planning on when he will get up to Fresno State and start his college career.
"I will probably arrive [to Fresno State] in June," Hardaway said. "The day after I graduate. That's the plan."
The Bulldogs get in a player in Hardaway had 40-plus catches, 800-plus yards and scored 11 receiving touchdowns. He's an extremely hard worker and a tremendous competitor, not only on game day, but practice, too. He's the type that competes with himself. He wants to get better with every rep. He's a great teammate, who is all about team and has good leadership qualities.
