Shannon Edwards and Jerry Smith sign

Shannon Edwards, a 5-11, 180-pound cornerback from Bakersfield, Calif. (Ridgeview HS) is the second defensive back to sign with Fresno State today. Edwards orginally gave a verbal to UCLA but decommited and signed with Fresno State.
Edwards' Career Notes: Named first-team All-Area by the Bakersfield Californian as a wide receiver after senior season ... 2011 first-team South Yosemite League selection as a wide receiver ... caught 32 passes as a senior and led the area with 860 yards receiving and eight touchdowns ... also rushed for six touchdowns in 2011 and had three more scores on returns ... as a junior he was named to the all-league team as a cornerback after recording 45 tackles and one interception ... had 18 receptions for 370 yards and two touchdowns in 2010 ... was named the Overall MVP at the National Underclassmen Los Angeles Combine after his junior year.
"He is an electric player that has made big plays his entire career." Fresno State CB cach Tim McDonald said.



Electrifying athlete Jerry Smith has faxed in his National Letter of Intent to the Bulldog football office. He is the seventh recruit to sign with Fresno State today.
Smith Career Notes: Multi-threat athlete as a running back, cornerback and return specialist ... was named first-team All-Suburban League in 2011 ... led team to a 7-4 record as a senior, including a 5-1 league record to finish as co-Suburban League champions ... in the second round of the playoffs he had a pair of fourth quarter touchdown runs (59 and 26 yards) to push Mayfair past Burrough High School and into the semifinals ... rushed 41 times for 556 yards and had 11 touchdowns as a senior ... caught four passes for 43 yards and two touchdowns ... recorded 27 tackles and two interceptions to go with seven pass breakups ... returned 17 kickoffs for an average of 31.1 yards with two touchdowns of 92 and 97 yards ... had a 96-yard punt return for a touchdown against Valley Christian High School ... as a junior in 2010 he had 23 tackles with two interceptions and one fumble recovery that he returned 28 yards ... rushed 32 times for 286 yards and five touchdowns and had four receptions for 136 yards with one TD ... returned three punts as a junior for an average of 17.3 yards and 10 kickoffs for an average of 26.6 yards.
He is likly to play CB for the Bulldogs.
