Fresno State get Letters from Waller, Jones and Hughes

Fresno State just received its first out-of-state recruit when running back Marteze Waller (Eatonton, Ga./Putnam County HS) faxed in his National Letter of Intent. Waller stands at six-feet, 200 pounds.
Waller Career Notes: Named first-team All-State for Class AA by the Atlanta Journal Constitution and the Georgia Sportswriters Association in both 2010 and 2011 ... was The Telegraph's All-Middle Georgia GHSA Football Player of the Year in 2011 ... played in the GACA North/South All-Star Football game on Dec. 30, 2011 ... entered the starting lineup midway through his freshman year and ended prep career with 6,260 rushing yards - good for 13th on Georgia's all-time record list (123 yards more than legandary running back Herschel Walker) ... after team went 2-8 during his freshman season, he led the War Eagles to a 25-6 record from 2009-11, which was the school's highest three-year win total since going 26-12 from 1995-97 ... helped lead Putnam County to a 9-3 overall record as a senior and the AA Region 4 Championship when he ran for 2,180 yards and 23 touchdowns ... averaged 8.8 yards per carry as a senior ... had a 249 yard rushing game and two 300-yard games during senior season, including a 320-yard, three TD effort against Jefferson County in a first-round playoff defeat ... as a junior he led the state in rushing with 2,155 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Dalen Jones, a 6-1, 185-pound defensive back from Woodland, Calif. (Woodland HS) has singed a National Letter of Intent with the Bulldogs.
Jones Career Notes: Two-way player in high school, projected as a safety at Fresno State ... first-team Max Preps California Division II All-State selection as a defensive back in 2011 ... named to the Sacramento Bee's All-Metro Team as a senior ... recorded 39 tackles on defense as a senior ... also played quarterback, where he threw for 2,043 yards with 23 touchdowns against three interceptions in 2011 ... rushed for 1,008 yards and 11 TDs in 2011 ... as a junior in 2010 he accounted for 15 total touchdowns ... ran 88 times for 430 yards (4.9 average) with eight TDs ... completed 20-of-29 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns with one interception ... caught 39 passes for 515 yards and four touchdowns ... on defense during junior season, he had 56 tackles, five interceptions, forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles.

Fresno State received its first letter of intent from a linebacker, Brandon Hughes out of Moorpark, Calif.
Hughes' Career Notes: Named first-team All-Marmonte as a senior after leading Moorpark High School to a 7-5 record ... the Los Angeles Times listed him as a Top High School Defensive Linemen for 2011 because of his ability to chase quarterbacks ... recorded two sacks in the 2011 season opener against Palos Verdes ... recorded two of the teams three sacks in a 42-7 over Agoura High while holding them to only 20 yards rushing ... also on the track & field team ... placed second in both the 110m hurdles and discus at the Marmonte League Championships ... had a personal-best time of 14.9 in the 110m hurdles.
