Katy (Tex.) linebacker Bright Ugwoegbu is just about done with the recruiting process.
"I would like to my decision around the time school starts," Ugwoegbu said. "I want to do it around late August or early September."
He's down to a very short list.
"I'm looking at Oregon State and Fresno State. Those are my top two right now."
A few other schools are hoping to be considered.
"Northwestern and Wake Forest are really interested in me and they're still contacting me, but I'm down to two."
Those two schools are the ones that he's mostly been in contact with.
"At Fresno State, I've been in contact with coach [Jordan Peterson] and at Oregon State, I've been talking to coach [Chris] Brasfield and coach [Trent] Bray," Ugwoegbu said. "They've each been telling me some similar things. They think that I'll fit into the outside linebacker spot and that that I could make plays for them there."
Besides the opportunity to play outside linebacker, he sees many similarities between the two programs.
"To me, they're the biggest schools out of all the ones I have," Ugwoegbu said. "They offer the opportunity to play early, and they're on the West coast, which is where I want to play. It comes down to me visiting both schools and I'll make my decision after that. After that, I'm done."
Those visits are happening soon.
"I'm trying to visit Fresno State in late July and Oregon State in early August."
While he's on those visits, he'll figure out what separates the two schools. Right now he only sees one big difference.
"The only difference I see so far is that Oregon State is bigger and they're in the BCS. Playing in a BCS conference is something that I would love to do, but both schools seem to do the same thing, Oregon State gets more publicity though."
