Washington bonds with future teammates
With all of the talk around Oklahoma recruits in San Antonio last weekend the one player doing most of the talking on their behalf was the initial member of Oklahoma's 2008 recruiting class five-star defensive end R.J. Washington. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound prospect from Keller (Texas) Fossil Ridge was pretty much a seven-day mouthpiece for the Sooner program.
Then again his play on the field may have spoken even more loudly, and unlike many of the linemen after having faced a highly rated opponent last season in current Texas Longhorn Kyle Hix. Washington struggled with Hix last year but felt he saw better players throughout the week.
"I think I did good, I think I lived up to my hype. I didn't think it was too bad," Washington said. "Matt Kalil was better than Kyle, I think Stephen Good was better than him.
"I admit last year he got me pretty good, I wasn't ready to go against him. Me as a senior would have been a different story."
