Linebacker Terrell Manning of Scotland County High in Laurinburg, N.C., was arguably the main attraction of the Shrine Bowl Combine at Richmond County Senior High in Rockingham, N.C., last Saturday.
However Manning almost was a no-show. He arrived late for the event and not very well prepared as he said he did not find out the combine until the day before. It did not help that Manning was noticeably hobbled by a foot/ankle injury during the day.
He checked in at 6-foot-3.75, 201 pounds and pulled off an impressive 33.2-inch vertical leap and did a solid 16 bench press reps at 185 pounds.
Because of his ankle Manning did not plan on running. He skipped the shuttle, but then was talked into running a 40. The first time he was clocked at 4.89 seconds. He limped back to the starting line, took of his shoes, and when his turn came up again ran a 4.74 in his socks.
